Yonni Fushman is responsible for managing Aecon’s national legal department and is involved with all legal and risk aspects of the business.
Fushman is also chair of Aecon’s Commercial Risk Committee, an initiative he championed and which Canadian Lawyer InHouse magazine recognized as the Innovation of the Year in 2016. He is also chair of Aecon’s Ethics & Compliance Committee.
Prior to joining Aecon in 2005, Fushman practiced law in the United States. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in Economics from the University of Southern California in 1997 and a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Boston University School of Law in 2001.
He is vice chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Construction and Infrastructure Law section, a co-founder of the Construction Sector In-House Counsel Forum, a co-director of Osgoode Hall’s Construction Law Certificate program, a member of the Ontario General Contractors Association’s Lien Act Review Task Force, and a member of the Board of Directors of North York Arts. He speaks regularly on various topics related to construction law and serves as a mentor for the Ontario Bar Association’s young lawyer mentoring program.
